Orchestral Player

 

Meinir is one of the UK's most experienced orchestral players, holding the post of principal harp with the Welsh National Opera for many years. Highlights with the Orchestra of Welsh National Opera include two cycles of Wagner's Ring Cycle performed throughout the UK (including Covent Garden); the highly acclaimed production of Verdi's Falstaff, performed at the Brooklyn Academy, New York, and in Tokyo and La Scala, Milan; Debussy's Pelleas at Melisande, conducted by Pierre Boulez and performed at the Chatelet Theatre, Paris; and numerous appearances at the Faenol Festival accompanying distinguished soloists. Meinir has worked with the world's leading orchestras in every corner of the globe, including - BBC National Orchestra of Wales, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, English National Opera, Opera North, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra and the Gothenburg Opera.

As an orchestral player, Meinir has recorded extensively and has worked with artists such as - Bryn Terfel, Luciano Pavarotti, Joan Sutherland, Jose Carreras, Jessye Norman, Kiri Te Kanawa, Sir Geraint Evans, Dennis O Neil, Renee Flemming and Leslie Garrett.
